Mommy’s Dinner Party Notes and Review
Here are some notes from the dinner party I made for Mommy’s Birthday.
I prepared the Anchovy Pasta specifically for Daddy who loooves anchovies. Turns out everybody loved it. And they like capers as much as I do. I prepared too much (1 kilo for 8 adults) but they all ended up taking home some anchovy yummy-ness.
The Beef Salpicao rated low in my book. It was my first time to prepare a large batch and I forgot to sear the beef to seal in the juices. It tasted great but the beef was a bit tough. My relatives liked it though, hehe. My 4 year old nephew found it a bit spicy for him, but the 1 year old nephew loved it. LOL! Had a hard time finding bell peppers as GMall Supermarket has it on stock only on Fridays. Found some at the SM Supermarket though.
Making the Baked Salmon was hassle-free compared to baking chicken. I just spiced it with some salt, pepper, and thyme. Then, upon the suggestion of my aunt, I topped it with some parmesan cheese. YUMMY! I basted with slabs of butter to prevent it from drying out. It was a big hit. I should have bought two slices instead of just one.
The most awaited part of dinner was dessert. But we had to rest for a while before serving it since everybody was sooo full. My Daddy and aunt usually stay away from desserts for health reasons. And my Mommy usually avoids coffee because she’s sensitive to caffeine. But my Tiramisu was a big hit with them. Although it was rich and creamy, it had little sugar content. And it was just too darn yummy. I used Ghirardelli bittersweet chocolate for the topping which contrasted well with the sweetness of the cream. Again, there was too much of it. But everything was wiped out after they had taken out the plastic containers.
And oh, the cake…
I didn’t make it though. But it was really, really, really pretty. Mommy is a belly dancing enthusiast and loves frog decors, hence, the cake design. It’s by Emily Lim of Cake Monster.
It was a great dinner.
And I am super happy I was able to make Mommy’s birthday special.
