Frozen Yoghurt

]Yoghurt is a dairy product. It is made by the process of bacterial fermation of milk. The fermentation process gives the yoghurt its tanginess or hint of sour taste.

According to LeafLady, yoghurt is rich in potassium, calcium, protein and B 12. Because of this, Eat Yoghurt lists reduced “gastrointestinal infections, improved immune system, greater resistance to cancer, and reduced incidence of osteoporosis” as some of the health benefits of eating yoghurt.

Because of these health benefits, Frozen Yoghurt or Froyo has become a popular ice cream substitute. Moreover, frozen yoghurt is considered a healthier choice because it contains less fat than ice cream because it does not contain cream.

Frozen Yoghurt, however, has some tartness and tanginess due to the fermentation process. Thus, it is not advisable to make frozen yoghurt with flavors or ingredients that won’t go well with the yoghurt’s tartness. Frozen yoghurt’s texture is similar to soft serve ice cream.

Frozen yoghurt is often sold in plain and topped with nuts, fruits, and other ingredients to make it more flavorful.

In Davao City, two places offer Frozen Yoghurt, Coffee Cat and Californiaberry.

Both places serve frozen yoghurt with a variety of toppings which the customers can choose from. Californiaberry occassionally serves Blueberry Yoghurt. To be quite honest, the taste and texture of their frozen yoghurt are quite the same. Californiaberry’s is a bit cheaper.

I have only tried the frozen yoghurt in Amara at Serendra, the Fort. They have frozen yoghurt in Mango, Chocolate, and Dark Chocolate Flavors. I heard though that there are many other frozen yoghurt places in Metro Manila and I am looking forward to trying those out.

Frozen yoghurt is defnitely a bit pricier than ice cream. But it is also healthier for almost the same creamy sweet goodness. :)

Coffee Cat is located along Torres Street Davao City. It’s in the cluster of restaurants near Level Up and Let’s Crab Eat.

Californiaberry has a stall at the Second Floor of the Gaisano Mall of Davao, JP Laurel Avenue, Davao City. The stall is near Watson’s.

After seeing your Californiaberry Frozen Yoghurt picture, I feel really hot–so hot that I’m craving for one now. I want one EXACTLY how it’s prepared in that picture. I’m so hungry, I don’t even need a spoon to eat it. :-)
