Pot de Creme
Pot de Creme is a French custard with a chocolate base.
Custards are prepared by mixing and cooking cream or milk with egg yolks. The creme brulee and the Filipino leche flan are popular dessert custards. Tiramisu and several other desserts are also made with a custard base.
A pot de creme (plural form: pots de creme) is made by cooking the custard, mixing in chocolate, pouring the mixture on ramekins, and baking it in a bain marie (water bath). After the pot de creme cools, it is then chilled.
It is usually served with some whipped cream and fresh berries or strawberries and mint leaves.
In Davao City, I was able to try the Pot de Creme of Lachi’s Sans Rival Atbp. They only serve it when their cater dessert bars for special events or occasions, but I have tried it twice already and it was absolutely pure chocolate heaven. They serve it plain, without any toppings or fruits, but I am not complaining.
Lachi’s pot de creme is rich and very chocolate-y. I cannot say that enough… CHOCOLATE-Y! It’s not milky or too sweet but it’s also not too bitter. It’s CHOCOLATE-Y! It’s a decadent dessert that any chocolate lover will love. Kids and adults alike.
If you get the chance to have your party catered by Lachi’s or if you attend a party with a Lachi’s dessert buffet, be on the look out for this one.
Hmmm… thinking of baking some of these next week.
Lachi’s Sans Rival Atbp. is open Mondays to Saturdays. They are located at VAL Learning Village, Ruby Street, Marfori Heights, Davao City. For reservations and inquiries, you may reach them at this number: +63916-9841183.
