Sukiyaki
If you have eaten Japanese cuisine several times, chances are you have tried Sukiyaki. Sukiyaki is a noodle soup which centers around tender thin slices of beef cooked on a pan-grilled on a skillet.
The dish contains the beef, noodles, Chinese cabbage, carrots, Shitake mushrooms, and tofu. The ingredients are arranged in such a way that the the textures, flavors, and colors are appetizing. The soup is flavored with soy sauce, sugar, and mirin.
Most Japanese restaurants serve Sukiyaki in a hot pot or stove right on the table so the soup is cooking in front of you. The diner then has to add a raw egg to the soup to add another layer of flavor to it.
At the Akiko Japanese Restaurant here in Davao City, they serve Sukiyaki Don which is basically Sukiyaki on top of rice. It has the same ingredients and flavors as sukiyaki but with less soup. It’s perfect for people who love rice with their sukiyaki.
Akiko Japanese Restaurant is located at the Victoria Plaza Mall Compound, JP Laurel Avenue, Obrero, Davao City. You may contact them at +6382-2226825.
