DFAT: The Best of Food and Adventures in Davao

By tomorrow, bloggers from all over the Philippines will converge in Davao City for the most-awaited bloggers’ event in the Philippines: the Davao Food Appreciation Tour 2011 (DFAT). As early as November 2011, bloggers have been scrambling to secure a slot in DFAT. It the first and best food and travel blogging event in the Philippines that gathers selected bloggers to sample the best food and adventures in Davao City.

For the first time since it was launched in 2008, the Avatar Media Team, has partnered with My Davao City and the Department of Tourism Region XI through Regional Director Art Boncato. DOT XI will be hosting a special trip for the participants. This will be a trip to the Tibolo Village of the Bagobo Tribe, located at Sta. Cruz at the foot of Mt Apo.

DFAT will kick off with a welcome dinner for those arriving early. Yellow Fin Seafood and Restaurant through Ms. Ana Angeles will be hosting the welcome dinner.

On Day 1, participants will partake in a hearty lunch at Trellis n Vines to be hosted by Ms. Divine Magtoto. Snacks with local bloggers will be held at Mam Bebs Bakeshop. Dinner will be sponsored by San Miguel Brewery Inc. through Ms. Meggy Macion. A visit to local fruit stands will end Day 1 of DFAT.

On Saturday morning, participants may take an optional trip to the beach at Samal Island and enjoy delicious Beko’s Biik lechon de leche from Ms. Beverly Lim. A Filipino lunch will be enjoyed by the participants courtesy of Ranchero to be hosted by Mr. Paolo Sunglao. Participants will then get to enjoy some gelato and pastries from Crepelato at their new branch in NCCC Mall thanks to Mr. Gerry and Ms. Victoria Evangelista. Lachi’s Sans Rival, the birthplace of DFAT, will be sponsoring dinner and desserts by twins Mike and Melvin Aviles.

Day 3 of DFAT will begin with the Amazing Bird Show and lunch at the Malagos Garden Resort. Thanks to Dr. Bo Puentespina! The DFAT 2011 Team will then proceed to the Philippine Eagle Center where they will enjoy an extra special guided educational tour of the center by Ms. Tatit Quiblat. Dinner will be an Italian feast at Don Beppe Pizza and Pasta courtesy of Mr. Gill Bullecer.

The final day of DFAT 2011 will begin early with the trip to Tibolo Village. Upon returning to Davao City, the DFAT Team will enjoy sampling the delicious offerings of Tiny Kitchen Creations prepared by Mr Vincent and Ms Donna Rodriguez. Delicious dinner will follow at Wings and Dips Cafeteria courtesy of Mr Drew Azarias. Team DFAT will wind down with some coffee and desserts at Cafe Demitasse. Thanks to Ms Apples Icasas!

Before leaving Davao City, participants will have a seafood brunch at Pixie’s Sinugba hosted by Ms. Anna Lim – Santiago.

Team DFAT 2011 will be leaving with fond memories and giveaway items from our kind friends. Aromacology Sensi will be giving away body mist sprays to be beat the summer heat thanks to Mr Gerry and Ms Victoria Evangelista. Sarangani Bay through Mr Jeje Cabrera will give DFAT participants bottled milkfish to take home as pasalubong. Loud Plastics Creation by Maej Villanueva will give accessories to the DFAT participants.

Transportation will be sponsored by Councilor Al Ryan Alejandre and ETours Davao. GeiserMaclang Marketing Communications, Inc through Ms Amor Maclang and Ms Anika Punzalan has also provided valuable support for the event.
